The straps deploy in under 20 seconds and stow away just as quickly when you don't need them, so the bag doesn't look like a backpack when the straps are tucked away.
BrightLine is upfront about the Pack Cap Rear's limitations, which is why they call it "The World's Most Adequate Backpack." Because the bag itself is only 13.5" tall, taller users may find the bottom of the bag rides higher on their back than a dedicated backpack would. It's best suited to narrower configurations — it works especially well with just a 4-inch Center Section and Pocket Cap Front — since adding significantly more depth can cause the load to cantilever.
This isn't meant to replace your everyday backpack.
