This Airbus A340-642 registered as G-VEIL with Virgin Atlantic Airways, and a manufactures serial number 575, was produced in Toulouse, France and saw its first flight February 18, 2004.

Named Queen of the Skies by her Majesty The Queen of England at a ceremony at the Airbus factory as part off a state visit to France to celebrate the centenary of the Entente Cordiale agreement. The Queen of the Skies was withdrawn from use in April 2016.
